(ACTION-CVT) Direct Oral Anticoagulants Versus Warfarin in the Treatment of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis
_____
A multicenter retrospective study comparing rates of recurrent thrombosis, death, and major hemorrhage in patients with CVT who received DOACs versus those who received warfarin. DOAC use was associated with similar risk of recurrence and progression of venous thrombosis, death, and partial or complete recanalization with a significantly lower risk of major hemorrhage over ~1 year median follow up.

(RE-SPECT CVT) Safety and Efficacy of Dabigatran Etexilate vs Dose-Adjusted Warfarin in Patients With Cerebral Venous Thrombosis
_____
A small multicenter RCT assigning adults with CVT not due to infection or trauma to treatment with dabigatran 150 mg BID or warfarin for 24 weeks, with the primary outcome of the composite of new VTE or major bleeding, and secondary outcomes of recanalization and non-major bleeding, finding no significant difference between dabigatran and warfarin for any of the outcomes.
